testing. delete me

I have noticed in my  stats that people are still hitting the 'old' blog.

I will probably never delete this site, because I use it for training and I never got around to moving all my old entries. But... if you want to stay up to date with Tablet Talk be sure you are hitting http://tablettalk.info

Facebook users... become a fan of TabletTalk! The same great reviews of Web 2 and Tablet friendly sites for education brought to you in a different format. My goal is increased interaction and participation among the people who read TT and I am experimenting with the social web and it's uses for professional dialogue.
TabletTalk on Facebook

Why: Weebly was sometimes difficult to edit within JCPS Net.  Wordpress will give me more detailed user statistics and the ability to update blog via email. Hopefully, it won't be so difficult to edit.

Where: The new address will be http://tablettalk.info

How: I set up a WordPress account at http://wordpress.com. Very easy, very free.  I didn't care for the domain they gave me (too long) so I bought a domain (I didn't have to, but it was $1.07) and paid WordPress $9.97 for the ability to  redirect to it.

When: Both sites will be 'up' for a while.

Go ahead and update your bookmark and/or google feed reader data. I'll be moving my old posts to the new site, so forgive some redundancy

Cool Cat
Check out this animation from British artist Jacqui Lawson. Use as a story starter or to start a discussion of warm and cool colors, the elements of art, fantasy versus reality or just have a little fun showing it to your students.

Roxio Photo Show 08/26/2009

Roxio PhotoShow is Animoto meets Comic Life. I enjoyed being able to upload more than 15 images and having (some) control over the outcome of the video. I like the simple but adequate caption and title options, and the dialogue and thought shot bubbles make it an exceptional tool for education. It is easy enough for a student to use, sadly you need an email address to create an account.  Enjoyed the html code given for embedding, would appreciate the option to simply link as well.  Give PhotoShow a try!

This is a two for one special. First, check out the write up abou the PBS Kids web license. It is a good teaching tool for young children  using the internet. It covers the basics of internet safety and responsibility, and at the end of the quiz the kids get a 'license' to use the web.
Also, check out the other posts on the  'Free Tech 4 Teachers' blog and consider subscribing.  There are lots of great ideas and inspiration available from this site, especially if you teach older students.
